| RadTherm/RT is an enhanced version of our RadTherm software, designed for the purpose of predicting road temperatures. ThermoAnalytics developed the software in conjunction with Montana State University. RadTherm/RT predicts and graphically displays road and surrounding terrain temperatures. Inputs into the software include a digital 3d-faceted terrain representation, meteorological data, and scenario (time/location) information.
The Montana "Safe Passage" Project runs the simulation using spatially resolved, forecasted weather. This simulation provides pavement temperature information needed to make decisions about where pavement conditions (in the North and mountainous regions) require chemical treatments, to make predictions on the potential buckling of hot pavement, and to provide real-time forecasts of potential roadway icing and buckling conditions to travelers. A web-based interface is being developed that will allow the road commission to provide inputs into RadTherm/RT, such as when the road has been plowed or sanded.
