Comprehensive Vehicle Simulation

Analysis of a F350 Superduty truck including full underhood and underbody heat sources, cab and human comfort models inside.
Total Thermal Simulation
ThermoAnalytics provides comprehensive thermal and infrared analysis of full vehicle systems operating in realistic environments. Our engineers provide support in planning the simulation approach, collecting boundary conditions and system parameters, and choosing the best available technologies deliver a comprehensive simulation of your vehicle. Starting with your CAD geometry, our team can build a fully representative thermal model including all significant heat sources and thermal control systems. With a complete model arranged, the vehicle can be exercised engineering data provided in detailed reports.

Boundary Conditions and Loading
Unlike most simulations, which include many simplifications in representing the environment, our team can employ a highly integrated approach that captures effects both internal and external to the vehicle. The purpose in choosing this robust approach is often to understand the relationships across the system as a whole: for example, how engine load affects HVAC performance and passenger comfort at various speeds. To demonstrate these indirect relationships, we often employ CFD analysis for convection, and apply it thermal models within our software. Additional modules, such as human comfort, can be utilized to test design changes early in the development cycle.

Complete Results and Reports
With all relevant thermal loads represented, such as exhaust systems, electronics, and even the metabolism of the occupants, our full vehicle simulations can be carried out for any global position and any weather condition. HVAC systems can be simulated, modified, and improved while operating under realistic transient conditions. Transient solar loading to the vehicle, including transmission through glass and effects of cloud cover are fully accounted for with accurate solar angles for the assigned location. Wind and radiation losses to the environment and are computed across the vehicle envelope to provide the most advanced thermal simulation available. Whether your goal is design improvements, target recognition, or human thermal comfort, our team can properly configure your system and deliver both an operational model and a concise engineering report.
Ground Truth and Validation
Our team can support the ground truth for simulation inputs by testing paints, surface conditions and materials to ensure accurate boundary conditions used as inputs. We can furthermore validate full vehicle models operating in the field or using surrogate systems to represent preproduction vehicles. From simulation planning to final validation and verification, ThermoAnalytics delivers total thermal solutions. Contact us to schedule an engineering review of your project.
